I am a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and former Naval Aviator back in familiar territory at Perdido Key. We live and work just outside of the home of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, Florida. After a career flying Navy aircraft and commercial aircraft for Delta Air Lines all over the world, I have embarked on a new career, real estate. Growing up, my dream was to be a Naval Aviator, like my uncle before me, who flew for the Navy in World War II. That dream sent me to The U.S. Naval Academy. I graduated in June of 1970 with a degree in aerospace engineering. Navy flight training was next in Pensacola, FL and Corpus Christi, TX.

I received my wings March 10, 1972. They were pinned on by my Grandmother, who had performed the same ceremonial task 50 years before, when her son, my uncle, received his Naval Aviator's wings. I spent eight years in active duty, flying the C130 Hercules, on giant skis, for VXE-6, the Antarctic squadron--yes, the South Pole!! Flying off "the Ice" and in Alaska and Greenland was unique, thrilling and sometimes harrowing. My first sales job was selling the Navy, not real estate, from my offices in Indianapolis and on the campuses of Indiana. I was privileged to head up the Officer Programs Office in the state of Indiana, recruiting officers for the Navy in all of the specialties, including flying, surface warfare, submarines and even physicians. In 1978 I left active duty and was off to Atlanta and a career with Delta Air Lines.

My Delta career gave me the opportunity to fly the Boeing 727, 737, 757, 767, the DC8, and the Lockheed L1011 and L1011 International models in the overseas operations. I have been all over the world, serving with the finest people anyone could ever know in both the Navy and Delta. I even met my wife on an airplane. My wife Caroline still flies as a flight attendant for Delta and continues to fly to Europe, Japan and domestically. Now we call Perdido Key home after spending years visiting and then spending all of our off time here. There is neither a more beautiful nor interesting place to live in paradise than Perdido Key. Let me show you the area I call home with its beautiful beaches, unrivaled boating and water sports, and the "down home" atmosphere not found in any other coastal community.

About Appraisals >The Language of Real Estate Agents
Technical terms can be confusing to people who do not work in a profession, and real estate agents use language that may be confusing to many home buyers and sellers.
If you find your eyes glazing over when your real estate agent starts talking about escrow, clear title, easements, encroachments, contingencies, financing, appraisals and the closing process, don't hesitate to ask for a translation. Buying or selling a home is a major step, and professional real estate agents are totally committed to helping you understand the process thoroughly so that you can make informed decisions.
The simple transaction of trading the sellers' house for the buyers' money has become complicated by several hundred years of custom, common law, and state and local government requirements. Consumer demands have resulted in up-to-date rules that communication be as clear and understandable as possible. Real estate agents work to create an atmosphere in which you feel comfortable to ask questions.
